  • History – Wellington was an oil, coal and agricultural hub throughout the 1800s, becoming a stopping location for wagon trains, travelers, and military movement between Cheyenne and Fort Collins. The town was founded in 1902, named after C.L. Wellington, an employee of the Colorado and Southern Railroad.
  • Location – Residing between Denver and Cheyenne, at the intersection of I-25 and Highway 1, Wellington is in Larimer County. Having grown beyond its bedroom community identity, Wellington has blossomed into a mature town. The I-25 corridor provides access to Denver in an hour, the Poudre Canyon in about 30 minutes.
