  • History – In 1905, the Great Western Railroad wanted to build their railroad through the Highlandlake district, to accommodate a beet dump/station, bordering Paul Mead’s farm. Mead saw a business opportunity and platted out lots and streets for a new town. He then named the town “Mead” after his father, Dr. Martin Mead, on whose original farm, the new town was located.
