Welcome to Barr Lake State Park!
Gateway to DIA
Location – Brighton is a growing community about 20 miles northwest of Denver. Near Denver International Airport, Brighton resides in both Adams and Weld counties and is the county seat of Adams County. If you’re looking for a city within easy drive time to the mountains, Brighton offers a great balance of urban and rural living!
History – Like other small cities along the Front Range, Brighton’s proximity to the river brought a lot of history to this area. What began as a buffalo trail along the river became an Indian trail, then a trader’s landmark. Trails turned into roads, roads turned into turnpikes, and turnpike were transformed into railroads.
Population – Brighton’s current population is ~ 40,000.
Economy – Brighton employs over 18,000 people in health care, retail, and construction. Like most other communities in Northern Colorado farming and ranching contributes significantly to the local economy. The median home price is $585,000 last month, due to the proximity to Denver.
Schools – The 27J School District provides one of the highest concentrations of top ranked public schools in Colorado, including Eagle Ridge Academy, Silver Creek Elementary School and Rocky Top Middle School.
