Agricultural Capital of Colorado
- History – Named for Horace Greeley, often remembered as the person who coined the phrase, “Go west, young man, go west.” Established in 1869, Greeley was founded on temperance, religion, family values and irrigation. Greeley is strategically positioned between the South Platte and Poudre rivers, two primary sources of irrigation for this agriculture-rich area.
- Agriculture – Farming and ranching is huge around Greeley, the county seat of Weld County. Weld is the 2nd highest county in the nation [tied with Yakima County, WA] for agricultural sales boasting over $2,000,000 in annual sales!
- Education – Greeley’s population of nearly 115,000 is represented by Weld County School District 6, K-12. The city is home the University of Northern Colorado, offering bachelor degrees in ~ 100 academic programs. UNC is a member of the Big Sky Conference.
- Economy – Greeley’s job market has increased by 4.1% over 2021. Future job growth is expected to be 49% over the next decade, higher than the US average of 33.5%.
